One more dance before the end of the year

This time I danced with my bharatnatyam class dance mates at Tapestry where we learn.
They usually host end of the year performances. We decided to do the alaripu(again) since we were not done with our Jatiswaram.
I was happy since I got to wear my dance costume for the first time. Yippee.

Worth all the trouble!

We finally had all the dance performances. It was great. I felt a heavy burden lifted off of me.
The first was in the Austin Hindu temple mela with the dance troupe "AGNI - the dance company". We were supposed to have danced around 6.30. But we ended up being on stage around 8.00 PM. By then all the dancers were getting restless. so were the audience. Finally we got onstage.
Prakash and co danced for the remix version of "Pardah hain Pardah". Then we did the 'Taal instrumental piece" and the Guru Stothram fusion song. The final one was the "Dol Dol" piece from Yuva.

Next, we danced in Jhalak 2008 -a competition held in UT by the Indian Cultural Association.
That went ok too.
Here is ours:

I danced for the taal piece which is just around 2 minutes and 5 seconds into the video.

Our next performance was in the Diwali function held by the Austin Tamil Sangam.
That was just our crowd. It was fun. Lot of cheering and whistling!

No more performances for some time. I am really tired of practicing. I have lost a lot of pounds considering I didn't have much to start with.

A full month of classes and dance practice

Can't believe this month is coming to an end! Longest month ever.

I signed up for GMAT classes this month (Like I will ever do an MBA any time!). They were on mondays and wednesdays from 6.30 to 9.30 on campus - about 10 miles from my home. The same time I decided to join AGNI to dance with them (They are an awesome dance troupe. Check out www.agnidance.com) . I ended up going for practice on tuesdays and sundays evenings. Sometimes on friday evenings.
I go to Anu's dance class on thursday evenings.

Why did I take up everything at the same time?
I remember the first week of october we were still trying to get the choreo done for 'barso re' to dance for the ASHA competition. we pulled out of it in the last minute.

Today is the last day of my gmat class. Oh! How I would love to sit at home and just lay around all evening.

Last saturday we danced at the Austin Hindu temple mela. We danced for 2 pieces- Taal and Guru Sthothiram fusion piece. The crowd loved it. It was worth all the practice we put in.

The next is the competition Jhalak in UT on Nov 7th.
We are also dancing for Austin Tamil Sangam Diwali festival on Nov 9th.
